Privacy Policy
Panchang is built to need as little from you as possible. There is no account, and your settings stay on your phone. The app is free and shows ads. This policy explains what data the app handles, who handles it, and why.

Who we are
The Panchang mobile app (“the app”) and this website are made by Multi Code Genius (“we”, “us”), 407, SNS Synergy, near Valentine Multiplex, Dumas Road, Piplod, Surat, Gujarat 395007, India. For any privacy question, write to multicodegenius@gmail.com.
The short version
- We do not ask for your name, email, phone number or any account details.
- We do not run servers that receive data from the app, and we have no database of users.
- Your settings are stored only on your phone.
- The app shows ads from a third-party advertising partner, which collects some device data to serve and measure them (see Advertising).
- City search and “Use my location” go to OpenStreetMap, not to us.
Data stored on your device
To remember your choices between visits, the app saves the following in your phone’s local storage:
- your selected city (its name, region, country, latitude, longitude and time zone);
- a short list of cities you recently picked;
- your chosen language and theme (light, dark or system).
This data never leaves your device through us. All panchang calculations (tithi, nakshatra, sunrise, timings, festivals) happen on the phone itself.
Location
Location access is optional. The app asks for permission only when you tap “Use my location”, and it requests approximate (coarse) location, not precise GPS. The coordinates are used once to work out which city you are in, so that sunrise, sunset and timings are correct for you. The app does not track your location in the background and does not keep a location history.
If you prefer, you can skip this entirely and pick a city from the list. You can withdraw the permission at any time in your phone’s settings.
Third-party service: OpenStreetMap
City search and “Use my location” use the Nominatim service run by the OpenStreetMap Foundation. When you use these features, the app sends Nominatim either the text you typed in the city search, or your approximate coordinates. Like any web request, this also exposes your device’s IP address to that service. The request does not include anything that identifies you to us. Nominatim’s handling of this data is covered by the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy.
Advertising
Panchang is free because it shows ads. Ads are served by third-party advertising partners through a software development kit (SDK) in the app. We do not receive or store the data these partners collect. To deliver ads, limit how often you see them, measure their performance and prevent fraud, the advertising SDK may collect:
- your device’s advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID or Apple IDFA, where permitted);
- device and app information, such as model, operating system, language and app version;
- IP address and the approximate location derived from it;
- ad interactions, such as which ads were shown or tapped.
Ads may be personalised based on this data unless you opt out. You can control this at any time:
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads, where you can delete or reset your advertising ID.
- iPhone: the app asks before any tracking. You can change this in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Where required by law (for example in the EEA, UK or Switzerland), the app asks for your consent before showing personalised ads, and you can change your choice later.
Each advertising partner handles this data under its own privacy policy. Your location chosen in the app and your settings are not shared with advertising partners by us.
Information you send us
If you email us for support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write. We use it only to reply to you and to improve the app, and we do not share it or use it for marketing. You can ask us to delete your emails at any time.
Deleting your data
Because the app has no accounts, there is no account to delete and we hold no data about you on any server. Everything the app stores is on your phone, and you can remove it at any time:
- Android: Settings → Apps → Panchang → Storage → Clear storage, or uninstall the app.
- iPhone: delete the app (press and hold the icon → Remove App → Delete App).
To clear the identifier advertising partners use, reset or delete your advertising ID as described in Advertising. To delete support emails you have sent us, write to multicodegenius@gmail.com from the same address and we will remove them within 30 days.
This website
This website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for security and reliability, for a limited time.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 or the EU GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, and to withdraw consent for personalised ads. We do not hold app data about you, so requests to us will usually concern support emails; data collected for ads is held by the advertising partner. Contact multicodegenius@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts handling data differently, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect. Please also read our Terms & Conditions.
